Police SI suspended for assaulting Dhaka City Corporation inspector

Dhaka – Sub-inspector Arshad Hossain Akash was suspended on Saturday night for allegedly assaulting DSCC cleaning inspector Bikash Chandra Das.
Maruf Hossain Sardar, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP media), said earlier a probe committee was formed to look into the allegation brought against SI Arshad Hossain Akash. As the probe body primarily found the SI guilty after investigation the authorities concerned suspended him, he said.
Earlier on January 15, Bikash Chandra Das, 40, a cleaning inspector of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), was allegedly beaten up by policemen near Mirhazirtbagh Bazar of Jatrabari area around 4:00 am ‘without any reason’.
As Bikash tried to flee the scene, sub-inspector Arshad Hossain Akash of Jatrabari Police Station, chased him and caught.
Although the DSCC officer gave his identity, he was mercilessly beat up by the SI.
Bikash was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital first and later shifted to Lab Aid Hospital.
He is now undergoing treatment at the ICU of Lab Aid Hospital. – UNB
