Polls only solution- Bnp; punishment of terrorism, says AL

Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif on Saturday once again rejected the assertion that there was any political problem in Bangladesh.
In an interview with the BBC he said that the people of Bangladesh are now concerned about new election or new government. They wanted more development and improvement in the quality of life as their per capita income has increased and with that their living standard.Hanif said that the only problem Bangladesh now faced was burning vehicles and killing of people through petrol bomb attacks. He said these are terrorist activities and should be dealt with through enforcement of law.
The BBC interview followed Bnp chief Begum Khaleda Zia’s call for solution of the present political stalemate by holding a free and fair election after amendment of the 15th Amendment of the Constitution.
About Khaleda’s remark that theirs was a peaceful movement and that the arson attacks on buses leading to deaths were the activities of elements belonging to the government as they wanted to discredit the opposition movement, Hanif said there were many proofs of members of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, Juba Dal and Islami Chhatra Shibir being caught with petrol bombs.
Bnp chairperson Khaleda Zia in her Friday press conference said that they cannot burn the people because their fight was to restore the democratic and fundamental rights of the people. The AL on the other hand had past examples of burning people by torching buses with gun-powder, dancing on bodies after killing people with poles and oars, and torturing people and even snatching their clothes if they went to offices on days of hartal called by that party. – News Desk
