A four-month pregnant woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband and in-laws at Charmonsha in Sadar upazila on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Poly Begum, wife of Sumon Hossain, a resident of the area.Family members said Poly had got married with Sumon a few years back.Since after marriage, Sumon and his family members used to torture Poly for refusal to meet dowry demand, said her brother Monir Hossain.On Saturday afternoon, Sumon along with his family members beat Poly indiscriminately, leaving her dead.Later Sumon claimed that Poly had committed suicide.On information, police recovered the body on Sunday morning.
Rubel Hossain, sub-inspector of sadar police station, confirmed the incident.The body bore several injury marks, added the SI.Sumon and his family members went into hiding after the incident.UNB, Laxmipur
