Presiding officer killed in Jhenidah road crash

Jhenidah – A presiding officer was killed as a human hauler (Alamsadhu) plunged into a roadside ditch at Sastar Bazar in Maheshpur upazila on Saturday afternoon.The deceased was identified as Abul Bashar, 45, a professor of Maheshpur Pouro Mohila College and son of Jafar Ali of Satpota village in the upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Maheshpur Police Station Akram Hossain said the human hauler tumbled into the ditch after its driver lost control over the steering while overtaking a vehicle at about 3pm, leaving several passengers, including Bashar, injured.
Critically injured Bashar was rushed to the upazila health complex where he succumbed to his injures at about 4pm.
Bashar was going to Ratanpur Government Primary School polling station with election materials from the upazila parishad when the accident occurred. – UNB
