Professional competency is mandatory for bankers

Senior bankers have asked their newly recruited juniors to follow the basic concepts in banking activities strictly to gain professionalism in the sector.

They added the junior bankers should know about the banking basic concept and be familiarize with it properly for the sake of building cordial relation between bank and its clients as it is inevitable for attaining success in the banking sector.

They viewed there is no alternative to build capacity for creating clients-friendly atmosphere alongside attaining success in their banking profession.

They were addressing the closing and certificate-giving ceremony of a five-day training course titled “Basic Concept in Banking Activities” for 38 cashiers of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank (RAKUB) at its training institute here on Thursday afternoon.

Main objective of the course was to improve skills and attitude alongside enhancing professional competence of the cash operators through disseminating ideas about operation, administration and other related matters of the bank.

RAKUB Chairman Prof Dr Shah Newaj Ali addressed the session as the chief guest with principal of the institute Mozammel Haque in the chair. Faculty Members Abu Taleb, Mobinur Rashid Sarker, Ranajit Kumar Sen and Md Ahsanullah also spoke.

Headquartered in RAKUB, the specialised bank has been putting in its level best effort to establish a dynamic leadership along with accountability and transparency in all its activities to earn confidence of the clients.

The speakers highlighted the importance of the bank in agricultural development of the northwest Bangladesh and asked the junior bankers to apply the knowledge acquired from the training in the professional field properly for boosting agricultural production in the region.

As the largest development partner in the agricultural sector of the northwest Bangladesh, RAKUB plays a vital role to earn economic emancipation and free the nation from poverty and hunger through boosting credit-flow to the potential agricultural fields, they added.

Prof Ali asked the participants to utilize the knowledge acquired from the training properly as the cashiers in banking sector are very important.

He said personal and institutional integrity in banking sector is very important to earn clients confidence in the banking activities.

The integrity will establish accountability, transparency and participation in their working places. In this way, corruption will reduce from society.

Besides, integrity is totally influenced by morality and honesty so practicing individual or personal integrity is the precondition to restore institutional integrity as a whole. For this reason, the operators should always remain alert in this regard.
