Quamrul denies verdict leak allegation

Dhaka – State Minister for Law advocate Quamrul Islam on Tuesday said people’s expectation has been fulfilled through the verdict of the
International Crimes Tribunal-1 sentencing BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury to death for crimes against humanity during the Liberation
War.“The nation is happy with the verdict against SQ Chowdhury and we’re also happy… SQ Chowdhury showed a lot of arrogance in the tribunal,
but with the verdict it is proved that law spares none”, he said while talking to the reporters at his office.
The International Crimes Tribunal-1 on Tuesday found BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury guilty of war crimes during the Liberation
War in 1971 and condemned him to death.
Replying to a question about the alleged leak of the copy of the  verdict on several social websites or blogs, the State Minister said:
“It’s clear that a section is hatching conspiracy to make the verdict questionable both at home and abroad.”
Turning down the allegation that the copy of the verdict was found in the computer of Law Secretary that is operated by one Alam, he said
the operator’s name is not Alam and there is no authority to write down the text of any verdict in the Law Ministry. “Also, there is no
scope to preserve it in any computer disk of the Law Ministry.”
Quamrul, however, said: “We’ve already informed the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) to look into the
allegation.”
The Law Ministry and the BTRC will investigate the matter and legal action will be taken if anyone is found involved in the matter, he
said. – UNB
