Dhaka – Quantum Foundation made a good start beating Narinda Pragoti Boys Club by 34-33 goals in a keenly contested opening match of the Cute Premier Division Handball League that began on Saturday at Shaheed Capt (Retd) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium here.The winners led the first half by 20-15 goals.In the day’s other matches, Prime Sporting Club defeated Old Ideals by 34-15 goals after dominating the first half 16-8 while Dhaka Mariner Youngs Club outplayed Victoria Sports Club by 50-12 goals after leading the first session by 23-4.
Five more matches will be held on the 2nd day (Sunday) at the same venue.Earlier, Youth and Sports Secretary of the ruling Awami League and veteran sports organiser Harun-ur-Rashid inaugurated the eleven-day league in the morning. Chairman of the league sponsor Mousumi Industries Ltd (Cute) Kazi Rajibuddin Ahmed Chapal was also present on the occasion as a special guest.
Ten teams-Narinda Pragoti Boys Club, Prime Sporting Club, Dhaka Mariner Youngs Club, Arambagh KS, Menjis KC, Bangla Club, Surjodaya KC, Victoria SC, Old Ideals and Quantum Foundation–will compete for the metropolis premier handball title on league basis matches. UNB
