A RAB officer was shot in broad daylight at Mirpur in the capital on Tuesday.Ripon Miah, 38, a Deputy Assistant Director of the elite force, has been admitted to Combined Military Hospital.
The incident took place near Sher-e-Bangla Stadium where the force was trying to apprehend muggers.
RAB spokesperson ATM Habibur Rahman told journalists, “A RAB team went there after getting news of some hijackers who were in the area.”
“The assailants fired at them as soon as they reached there.”
Ripon received three bullet wounds in his hand and feet. He was first taken to a nearby hospital and later transferred to CMH.
RAB could not fire back since the shooters disappeared in a crowd of people, said the spokesperson.
He said there was an operation in the area to catch the criminals. – bdnews24.com
