Jhenidah Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-6) seized 24 gold bars worth at least one crore taka from bordering upazila Moheshpur under Jhenidah on Monday morning. At that time, they arrested one gold smuggler red handed.
RAB-6 camp commander Squadron Leader Niaz Mohammad Foysal said the arrested person was identified as Sorwar Hossain, 27, son of Elahi Box Mondol of Betbariya village under Moheshpur upazila.He said, on getting secret information RAB members raided the bordering area of Zadoppur on Monday morning. At that time, they arrested Sorwar and after searching him, recovered 24 gold bars weighing 2.4 kilogram from his two sandals. After interrogation, the gold bars is going to neighboring country India from Amin Bazaar of Dhaka, he added.
