Raman Magsaysay Awardees of 2015 join Festival Week in Manila

As the 57th Magsaysay Awards season commenced on August 27 to September 2, events and activities of all the awardees will be on livestream, podcast and twitter to give the virtual audience the chance to watch the events in their respective countries.RMAF medalThe five Ramon Magsaysay awardees are expected to arrive in Manila August 26 and to receive Asia’s Premier Prize and Highest Honor from no less than His Excellency, President Benigno C. Aquino III in the presentation ceremonies at the Cultural Center of the Philippines on August 31.
This year’s new laureates are ANSHU GUPTA (India), SANJIV CHATURVEDI (India), KYAW THU (Myanmar), KOMMALY CHANTHAVONG (Laos) and LIGAYA FERNANDO-AMILBANGSA (The Philippines).
Established in 1957 to honor the ideals of our late great President Ramon Magsaysay, the Magsaysay Award is acknowledged to be the most prestigious prize in Asia.  The Ramon Magsaysay Award has been bestowed to over  300 outstanding men, women and organizations whose selfless service has offered their societies, Asia, and the world successful solutions to some of the most intractable problems of human development.  Our illustrious community of Magsaysay Awardees includes global icons like the Dalai Lama, Mother Teresa and Corazon Aquino among others.
