Avijit murder accused 3 Ansarullah Bangla Team members on remand

A Dhaka court on Thursday placed three reported ‘Ansarullah Bangla Team’ members, including a British citizen, on a three-day remand in a case filed for killing of blogger Avijit Roy.
Magistrate Asaduzzaman Noor passed the order after Investigation Officer, Mohammad Fazlur Rahman, produced them to his court on completion of their 7-day remand in the murder case. This time the IO sought a fresh remand each for seven days. The accused are Tawhidur Rahman (58), the reported master-frame of the incident, Bangladesh born British citizen and also the planner of the incident, Sadeque Ali Mithu (28) and Aminul Islam (35).
On August 19, a Dhaka court placed three accused on a seven-day remand each in the blogger Avijit Roy murder case.
Earlier on February 27, Avijit, a Bangladesh born US citizen, was hacked to death about two weeks after his visit to Bangladesh from the US to meet his family members and see two of his books published in the country’s ongoing Ekushey Book Fair. The incident occurred near the TSC intersection of Dhaka University. His wife Rafida Ahmed Bonya, also lost a finger of her hand in the attack. – Special Correspondent
