Rangpur city will have modern road network

Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) Alhaj Sharfuddin Ahmed Jhantu has said the city of Rangpur will have modern and eco-friendly road communication networks to become free form traffic-jams.

He was addressing launching ceremony of road carpeting and drainage works at G L Roy Road area in Ward No-24 near the Christian Crematory in the city corporation area on Monday afternoon as the chief guest.

The Mayor launched the road carpeting and drainage works under the ongoing phase-wise construction packages of 72 separate roads, drains, culverts etc at the cost of Taka 18 crore in RCC area.

RCC Councilors Hafiz Ahmed Chchuttu, Tauhidul Islam, Sekendar Ali, Nazrul Islam Dewani, RCC Superintending Engineer Emdad Hossain, its Executive Engineer Azam Ali, JICA Representative Rena Tanaka, noted contractor Alhaj Muzahid Hossain Fulu and businessman Jafar Azmi were present.

After inaugurating the construction works of the road and drainage systems, the RCC Mayor said development works in the city are being implemented keeping in view to building a well-planned, most modern, traffic-jam free and eco-friendly beautiful city.

The city dwellers would be benefited and traffic-jam situation improved significantly after completion of various ongoing infrastructural development works in the city in future, he said.

“Rangpur will be turned into an international standard clean city and one of the most beautiful cities in the region with excellent communication networks, congenial environment and eye-catching looks,” he said.

Jhantu also sought cooperation and support of all city dwellers for smoothly conducting all infrastructural developments including roads, bridges, culverts, sewerage systems, water and electricity supply etc in a long-term and well-planned manner. -BSS, Rangpur
