Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation (RCC) and valiant freedom fighter Alhaj Sharfuddin Ahmed Jhantu has said Rangpur will become a traffic-jam free city with modern and eco-friendly road communication networks.
He was addressing a launching ceremony of 485-metre road carpeting works at a cost of Taka 25 lakh at Mouban Khamarpara of Ward No-23 near Khotkhotia Dolapara area in the city corporation on Thursday as the chief guest.
The mayor launched the road carpeting works under the ongoing phase-wise construction packages of 72 separate roads, drains, culverts etc at a cost of Taka 18 crore in RCC area.
Councilor of Ward No-23 Mokhlesur Rahman Taru, Ward Councilors Hafiza Khatun Panna and Abdur Razzaque Mandal, RCC Sub-assistant Engineer Rafikul Islam and contractor Nur-E Alam also addressed the ceremony.
Social workers Alhaj Khairul Basher Chand, Alhaj Azizar Rahman, Anisur Rahman, Abu Taleb, Khotibar Rahman, Harun-Al-Rashid, local elite and people from all walks in the society were present.
After inaugurating the road construction works, Jhantu said the infrastructural development works in the city are being implemented keeping in view to building an eco-friendly, well-planned, most modern, traffic-jam free and beautiful city.
All of the city dwellers would be benefited and the overall traffic-jam situation improved significantly after completion of the ongoing massive infrastructural development works in the city corporation in future, he said.
He said Rangpur will become an international standard clean city and one of the most beautiful cities in the region with excellent and modern communication networks, drainage systems, congenial environment and eye-catching looks.
The RCC mayor sought cooperation of all city dwellers for smoothly conducting the ongoing infrastructural development works like constructions of roads, bridges, culverts, sewerage systems, water and electricity supply etc in a well-planned manner. –BSS, Rangpur
