RDRS Bangladesh, a reputed NGO, distributed 7,894 pieces of quality blankets among the cold-hit poor and distressed people including women and children, of all eight districts in Rangpur division during this winter season.
The blankets were distributed under the core programme of RDRS Bangladesh and with the assistances of Chars Livelihoods Programme (CLP), Federation of NGOs in Bangladesh, Standard Chartered Bank, other different institutions and organisations to mitigate sufferings of the cold-hit people.
The blankets and 250 pieces of saree and 165 pieces of lunge were distributed in separate ceremonies arranged in rural areas in presence of the government officials, union chairman, members, officials of RDRS Bangladesh, civil society members and elite.Head of Programme Coordination of RDRS Bangladesh Monjusree Saha, its Programme Manger Shafikur Rahman, district and upazila level officials also attended the distribution ceremonies.
Talking to BSS today, Agriculture and Environment Coordinator of RDRS Mamunur Rashid said the blankets were distributed among the cold people of all ages in these eight districts under Rangpur division to support them in overcoming bite of the cold wave. -BSS, Rangpur
