Refusal of midterm polls will bring setback: BNP

BNP acting secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed yesterday said the ruling Awami League may face mid-term set back if they fail to give a mid-term election.
“We want to say that Awami League does not want to leave luxury of chair in power after returning to it through a voter less election. But they should be careful they may face disaster if they hang on to power without giving a midterm polls,” he said while addressing a press conference at party headquarters at Naya Paltan in the city.Rizvi’s comments came a day after the AL general secretary told reporters that there is no possibility of holding a mid-term election in the country.
Reacting to the statement of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina a conspiracy was hatched on January 5 like 1974, the BNP leader said that the AL has established BAKSAL in the country for the second time through January 5 poll.
He said the AL chief has been carrying out propaganda to suppress their own failures.
“The AL never took any lesson from the history and that’s why they stumbled repeatedly,” he said.
Rizvi called upon the people to resist the ruling party everywhere in the country.
