The inward remittance flow to the country in the first four months of
the current fiscal marked a fall by 10.2 percent compared to the
corresponding period of the previous fiscal. According to Foreign
Exchange Policy Department of Bangladesh Bank (BB), the remittance
inflow from July to October this fiscal stood at US$ 4504.67 million.
The remittance earning from July to October in the previous fiscal was
US$ 5012.5 million. Except for July this year, the remittance
earning of the next three months marked a decline compared to the
corresponding months last year. In October, the amount of remittance
stood at US$ 1234.72 million, which is a decline by 15.1 percent
compared to the earning of October, 2012. Of the US$ 1234.72 million
earned in October this year, US$ 824.90 came through private
commercial banks, US$ 382.18 million through state owned commercial
banks, US$ 15.09 through foreign commercial banks, and US$ 12.55
