Report on Gulshan café attack deferred

Dhaka, 28 Jan – The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Sunday deferred the submission of the investigation report in the case filed in connection with the attack on the Holey Atrisan Bakery at the city’s diplomatic zone in Gulshan to March 6.Magistrate Nurunnahan Yasmin of the CMM Court passed the order as Inspector Humayun Kabir of Police Counter Terrorism Unit, who is also the investigation officer of the case failed submit the report on Sunday, as decided earlier.
On July 1, 2016, 20 hostages including 17 foreign nationals and two police officer were killed in an attack by militants. Five militants and one suspected associate of the attackers were also killed during a commando operation in the cafe on July 2-morning. The law enforcing agencies recovered 13 hostages alive during their operation.
On July4, last year, Dhaka Metropolitan Counter Terrorism Unit filed the case with Gulshan Police Station of the capital accusing 5 militants and unknown persons under the Counter Terrorism Act. – Special Correspondent
