Dhaka – The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday (Sunday) deferred submission of the investigation report in a case filed against cricketer Arafat Sunny to March 7.Magistrate Loskar Sohel Rana fixed the new date as Mohammad Yahia, Investigation Officer (IO) of the case and also a Sub-Inspector of Mohammad Police Station did not submit the report on Sunday. However, Arafat Sunny was brought to the court on the occasion.
On January 22, police of Mohammad Police Station arrested the cricketer from his Aminbazar residence and he was placed on a one-day remand for interrogation by the police in a case lodged under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act. On completion of the remand, on January 24, the CMM Court sent Sunny to the court rejecting his bail petition.
The statement of the case says that Sunny was married to woman on December 4, 2014.
On June 12, last year, Sunny placed some objectionable photos of the couple in facebook and threatened the woman. Later, on November 25, Arafat Sunny allegedly repeated the same process. On January 5, last, the woman filed the case with Mohammad Police Station in the city for the reported misdeeds under the ICT. Earlier, the court asked the IO to submit the investigation report on February 5. – Special Correspondent
