Rizvi on remand charged with vandalising, setting fire to vehicles

Bnp joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi who was arrested from a Baridhara house on Friday night has been placed on three-day remand in a case of arson and setting fire.
The remand was granted by the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Alamgir Kabir Raj when the Bnp leader was produced before him. Police sought a 10-day remand showing him arrested in a case of vandalising and setting fire to motor vehicle in Badda Thana.Rizvi was taken to the court from the Special Branch at about 3 pm. Investigation officer of the case SI Mosharraf Hossain sought remand for 10 days, and said Rizvi was charged with ordering arson and setting fire to vehicles.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi was arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) and handed over to Badda thana from where he was sent to the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on late Saturday afternoon.
The Bnp leader had been issuing press release and making statements on the party’s behalf for the last 26 days of the blockade.
First arrested from the Naya Paltan central office of the party on Mirpur 03 night, police claimed to arrange for his treatment as he was indisposed. Rizvi however managed to secretly walk out of the Apollo Hospital where he was admitted under police guard.
After his arrest Rizvi and Bnp’s acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir remain behind the bar on the charge of vandalising and setting fire to vehicles. – Staff Reporter
