Two persons were killed and seven others were injured in a road mishap at Pithalitala under Shibganj municipality on Tuesday morning.The deceased were identified as Meser, 60, son of Faku Mondal of Poladanga village and Sadequl Islam, 45, son of Shamsuddin of Guptamanik village both under Dhainagar union of Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj district and the injured were identified as Matiur Rahman, 50, Abu Taher, 55, Babu, 18, Sharif, 27, Abdul Khaleq, 30, Azizul, 22 and Sabur, 23 all of different villages of Dhainagar union.
Duty officer of Shibganj thana SI Mozammel Hoque said, labourers were returning home at Dhainagar after harvesting paddy from the Barind areas by a truck and as it reached Pithalitala, it suddenly overturned losing control. At this, Meser and Sadequl were killed on the spot at around 5 am, he added. Being informed, police rushed to the spot, recovered the dead bodies and sent them to Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The injured persons were sent to Shibganj Upazila Health Complex, Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital and Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, police and locals said.
