Barisal, June 1 (UNB) – An alleged robber was killed in a reported gunfight with police at Patar Char village in Muladi upazila early
Wednesday.The deceased was identified as Salim Hawlader,40, a resident of the village.Officer-in-charge (Investigation) of Muladi Police Station Humayun Kabir said police arrested Salim from Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon,UNB News Agency Reported.
Later, a team of police along with Salim conducted a drive in the area to recover firearms at about 3:00am.Sensing presence of the law enforcers, associates of Salim opened fire on the law enforcers, prompting them to retaliate that triggered a gunfight.At one stage, Salim was caught in the line of fire and died on the spot while his associates managed to flee the scene.Police recovered two pipe guns from the spot.
