Sea robbers have reportedly killed at least 16 fishermen in the deep Bay near Ali Akbar Balir Ghat area of the district.
Meanwhile, dozens of fishermen sustained injuries in during the attack.
Quoting local fishermen, police said some 16 fishermen were reportedly killed. However, police failed to get any confirmed information in this regard till filing the report at about 5pm.
Cox’s Bazar district police super Azad Mia said, “We have got information that robbers have killed 16 fishermen in the deep Bay near Kutubdia upazila. But, we are yet to be confirmed.”
On the other hand, BanshkhalithanaOC Quamrul Islam said, “Some local fishermen informed that robbers have killed 16 people and injured 20 to 30 others. In this case, death toll could rise further.”
