Robbers loot AL leader’s house in Sylhet

A gang of armed robbers looted gold ornaments and other valuables
worth about Tk10 lakh from the house of a local Awami League (AL)
leader at Takipur village in Chhatak upazila on Monday night.
Police and locals said a gang of robbers numbering 8 to 10 entered the
house of AL leader Aslam Ali breaking open the door and tied its
inmates.
The gang looted seven tolas of gold ornaments, cash Tk5 lakh, a laptop
and other valuables worth Tk10 lakh.
They also beat up Suyeb Ahmad and Maolana Selim Ahmad, leaving them
seriously injured.
Being informed, Shahjalal Munsi, officer-in-charge of Chhatak Police
Station, visited the spot.
Meanwhile, local people caught three alleged robbers Enamul Haque
Makhon, 24, Jamal Ahmad, 25 and Saddam Hossain, 28, from Lafarj Surma
Cement Ferry Ghat in the upazila at about 10:00pm while they were
trying to flee by a private car.
Later, they handed over them to police.
A case was filed in this connection.
