Feni – Armed robbers looted some 500 talas of gold ornaments from a jewellery shop in the district town on Saturday.
Witnesses said a band of 15-20 masked robbers stormed into ‘Abedin Jewelers’ at Khaja Ahmed Road adjacent to the Press Club in the town around 7pm and terrorised its staff firing blank shots and exploding crude bombs.The gangsters then held the shop employees hostage at gunpoint and made away with the gold ornaments. Meanwhile, Feni district Jewellery Owners’ Associations called a daylong strike for Sunday protesting the robbery. – UNB
