Dhaka – Some students of the Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) department at the Rajshahi University (RU) launched a mass signature campaign program demanding immediate arrest and proper punishment of Motalib Hossain Lipu murderer.Acting chairperson of MCJ Dept Prof. Sathil Siraj was inaugurated the campaign Saturday morning at the department premises.
Expressing anger students of the department said, ‘we want the trial of all murders in RU. We do not want any student to go back home as a dead body after coming here to acquire knowledge.’
“University administration or the law enforcement agencies, do not give us security. Even a student is not safe inside the dormitory”, they again alleged.
They students sought to continue their movement until they see the proper trial of Lipu murder.
Earlier they announced a seven-day ultimatum till Nov 01 on the issue.
It is to be noted that police recovered the body of Lipu, a 2nd year student of MCJ department from a drain behind the Abdul Latif Hall of the university on 20 October morning. – RU Correspondent
