Rajshahi, Feb 12 – Rajshahi University Crop Science and Technology department Professor Khairul Islam allegedly hit his colleague Professor Ali Asgar. The incident happened at around 12 pm on Wednesday at Agricultural faculty building. Prof Ali Asgar was brought to the university health centre after he fainted. Professor Khairul Islam said, he did not even touch Ali Asgar. His fainting was just acting. Professor Ali Asgar was trying to photocopy secret information of the 3 new teachers. He acted like this for media coverage.
Professor Ali Asgar and Professor Khairul Islam in last November filed a general diary in Motihar police station against one another. Earlier, Professor Ali Asgar filed a writ petition to the court on the appointment of 3 teachers in Crop Science and technology department. The 3 teachers were appointed on January 26.
Professor Ali Asgar took primary treatment in the university health centre. Later he went home. He alleged, I stood beside the dean office for photocopying some papers at around 12 pm. Professor Khairul Islam reached there. He hit me without saying a word. Later I fainted.
The acting chairman of the department Prof. Abul Kalam Azad said I was absent there at that time. Someone called an ambulance and he was brought to the health centre.
Peon of the department Md. Motaleb Hossan said I am an employee of this department. I was absent at the time of the incident. I went there after being informed.
University proctor Professor Lutfor Rahman said, I heard about the incident. I will find out what actually happened. – A correspondent
