RU teacher Raza sent to jail over provocation case

Alleging involved with the abnormal death of Prof. Akter Jahan Joly, an associate professor of Mass Communication & Journalism (MCJ) Department at Rajshahi University (RU), her colleague Atiqur Rahman Raza send through the court to the jail on Saturday.Earlier, teacher Raza was detained on Thursday night from the Talaimary of the Rajshahi city area by Detective Branch (DB) policefor the questioning into the matter.
Al Amin, assistant commissioner of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) told the newsmen that police get Raza`s involved in the abnormal death while he was revealed some information in this regard during two days police interrogation in DB office.
“Raza had a long relationship with Prof. Akter Jahan Joly. At last stage, their relationship was strained. Akhter Jahan eventually committed suicide after wrote a suicidal note where she mentioned none responsible for her death. Even the police got only found Raza`s involvement in provocation to suicide so far.”
Firstly tracing the cell phone records of both teachers Raza and Joly, police confirmed his involvement in the issue, and then took him in the interrogation, police official also added.
Following the interrogation he was sent to jail for agitation to suicide by the court.
Arrested Atiqur Rahman is assistant professor of MCJ department, was former assistant proctor of the university.
It is noted that police recovered Prof. Joly`s dead body was found inside her campus quarters on September 09 afternoon with a suicide note from the room.
The note reads, `No one is responsible for my death. I committed suicide due to physical and mental pressure.’ In the note, she also requested that her body be donated to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital instead of taking it to Dhaka. One day later his younger brother Kamrul Hasan Raton filed a case under section 306 of penal code stating that she was forced to commit suicide while the plaintiff
