Rajshahi, Oct 24 – Rajshahi University teachers and students on Saturday formed a human chain in front of the university main gate protesting the murder of RU former student Md Mustafiz at Savar and they gave the government 24-hour ultimatum to find the murderers.
Speakers said at the human chain, incidents of torture and murder are increasing day by day in Bangladesh because of not meting out proper justice. There are a lot of students of Rajshahi University who were murdered but they haven’t got justice yet. We can’t tolerate such a death of a university student. We demand the finding out of the murderers of Mustafiz and for the end of justice as early as possible.
They made the 3-point demand at the human chain. The demands are to find and arrest the murderers within 24 hours, to bring the murderers justice and to provide compensation to the victim’s family.
Philosophy department associate professor Dr Ekram Hossain, master’s students Shohel, Asraful Islam, Mehedi Hasan, Md Isanur were present on the human chain.
The murder victim was a Philosophy department student of session 2012-13 and hailed from Durgapur Upazila of Rajshahi. His body was found by the locals at Shimultala area of Savar. Local people called 999 and police recovered the dead body, they said. – RU Correspondent
