RU, VU and RUET celebrate Pohela Baishakh with festivity

Pahela Baishakh of the Bengali New Year-1423, was celebrated amid huge enthusiasm at Rajshahi University (RU), Vorendra University (VU), and Rajshahi University Engineering and Technology (RUET) campuses separately.
RU VC Professor Dr Muhemmed Mizanuddin inaugurated the celebration at RU Teacher, Student Cultural Centre (TSCC).
VU advisor and former Bangladeshi High commissioner to Britain Dr M Saidur Rahman Khan opened festivities at the VU auditorium, RUET VC Prof Dr Rafiqul Islam Beg opened their programme at the central Shaheed Minar releasing  balloons festoons on Thursday. Concerned officials of the three universities were present in the inaugural programs.To mark the day, different departments and institutes took up elaborate programmes including Baishakhi fair, musical soiree, colorful processions, sessions of folk songs, discussion, art and painting competition-exhibition, and poetry reciting contests.
Wearing traditional Sharee, Panjabi, and various traditional dress and mask students teachers took part in processions.
RU Fine Arts department, along with university administrative officials, brought out the biggest colorful rally titled Mongol procession around 9:30 am in front of department building.
They also arranged a three day-long programmes of folk songs gambhira dance, band music and jatra pala were organised at the university Charu Chattar.
Gifferent socio-cultural organisations including Drama association, Anushilon Natyogosthi, Thirthok Natyogosthi, Sundaram Abriti Sangsad and Theater Group staged their cultural programmes under the banner of Kendrio Sangskritik jote. – RU Correspondent
