Rubel-Happy row: Court asks for DNA test of evidence

A Dhaka court on Wednesday gave permission for conducting DNA test on seized evidence to confirm whether actress Naznin Akter Happy had any consensual relationship with anyone other than national cricketer Rubel Hossain.
Metropolitan Magistrate M Mostafizur Rahman passed the order following a petition filed by sub-inspector Masud Parvez of Mirpur Police Station, also the investigation officer of a rape case filed against Rubel.On December 13, the actress filed the case against the National Cricket Team pacer under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act.
According to the first information report (FIR), the actress had been involved in a physical relationship with Rubel for last eight months. It also said Rubel had promised to marry her in order to develop physical relationship.
As Rubel reportedly backtracked from that pledge, the actress filed the case alleging that Rubel raped her several times at his flat located beside Mirpur Commerce College under Mirpur police station.
On December 15, the High Court granted an anticipatory bail for four weeks to Rubel.
Rubel was first picked in the national team in late 2008 after some consistently good performances in the Cricket Academy and he made his international debut in January 2009.
