No room for snap polls, talks ahead of 2019 election: AL

Awami League Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary Hasan Mahmud Wednesday said there is no room for discussion on interim election or caretaker government.
Terming BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s speech as ‘lie’, the AL leader said, “Begum Khaleda Zia wants to catch fish in troubled water. But she cannot do that.”He said this at a press conference on behalf of the party in reaction to BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s news conference statement, at the AL president’s political office at Dhanmondi in the capital.
Hasan said except war criminals, discussion can be held with any party to take the country ahead. But there is no scope for discussion on mid-term election or caretaker government as election will be held in 2019, he said, adding, “Discussion will be held ahead of election in 2019.”
Hasan said BNP chairperson’s news conference statement was full of lie and false information. “Telling lie is the political character of BNP. So, they are becoming isolated from the people,” he added.
AL central committee members Sujit Roy Nandi and Enamul Haque Shamim were present at the press conference, among others. – BSS
