Students of 2013-14 session of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technolgy(RUET) staged demonstration protesting the new Credit system.
The students staged a demonstration in front of VC office on Tuesday from 11.00am to 1:00pm carrying placards and chanting slogans with the demand of cancelling the newly introduced credit system.
About 35 students of 2013-14 session of the university have failed due to the new examination credit system.Sources say, the new credit system that has been intyroduced requires a student to acquire at least 33 credit out of 40. According to this system, if anyone fails to attain 33 credits he will have to drop the year.
Students have been protesting by boycotting classes, forming human chains and giving memorandum to VC since last Sunday for cancellation of the system.
Some victim students said on condition on anonymity there is no such type of system credit in any other university of engineering and technology in the country.
When contacted, RUET VC Professor Dr. Rafiqul Alam Beg said students are protesting without giving written complaints and they did not consult the administration regarding the matter. – RU Correspondent
