Rajshahi University Journalist Association (RUJA), a platform of young progressive journalists on the campus, yesterday demanded exemplary punishment of the responsible Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) men who locked the Chitagong University Journalist Association (CUJA) office illogically.They also demanded immediate arrest of ruling party parliament member, who beaten up two journalists of the Independent Television at his office at July 20.Over fifty journalists of different print and online media under the banner of RUJA organised a human chain on the campus at 12:30am in front of the university central library to press home their demand. Addressing at the human chain, the speakers said that a section of Awami League-Jubo League and BCL men who does not believe in the independence of Bangladesh, were so much enthusiastic to assault journalists in the different part of the country.They also urged the government to withdraw the case which was filed against the two victims by Rony. Among others RU Prof Maloy Bhoumick of management studies, Prof SM Abu Bakar of Psychology department, RUJA president Anaet Karim, vice president Shakir Ahmad, office secretary MA Sayeed (Shuvo) and finance secretary Nazim Mridha addressed at the programme. -Our Correspondent
