Ruling party cadres occupy cattle markers: Bnp

BNP yesterday alleged that the ruling party cadres occupied cattle markets in the city and they are realising tolls whimsically at rates higher than in the past.

“The cattle markets in the city were leased to leaders of the ruling Awami League and its associate organisaitons including Chhatra League and Juba League. They have increased the tolls two to three times more than that of the previous year for every cattle purchase,” said BNP spokesperson Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon.Addressing a press conference at party headquarters at Naya Paltan in the city, he also alleged that the ruling party cadres are seizing trucks carrying sacrifice animals capitalising the police ban not to open cattle markets anywhere on the roadside.

He accused the ruling party people of plundering, extorting and snatching of cattle. “The ruling party people are applying rules illegally,” he alleged.

The BNP leader apprehended the price of cattle will increase this time and people would also have to pay extra money for it.

He condemned the police firing on demonstrators in Kalihati of Tangail and said the government has chosen the violent means to resist non-violence protest.
