Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Khaleda Zia on Thursday said that the ruling Awami League has been suffering from fear of the eople ahead of the national elections as they didn’t anything for the welfare of the people.“The Awami League led government didn’t do anything for the people during the last four and half a years in power. They have been suffering from afraid of people like people are suffered from puerperal fever (Jalatanka) if dog bites them,” made the remarks while addressing an iftar and doa mahfil organized by Bikalpadhara Bangladesh.
The former prime minister called upon the government not to waste of time but to bring amend to the constitution for restoration of non-party caretaker government creating a level playing filed before the next general elections.
She made it clear that the demand of restoration of non-party caretaker government turned into a public demand and said no election would be allowed without a non-party administration.
The election must be held under the caretaker government be participated by all political parties, she added.
The BNP chairperson said the people want to get rid of from the misrule of the present government.
She justified that restoration of non-party government is needed to create a level playing field before the election.
“We want the next election is held under a non-party caretaker government and we will win the polls will get the responsibility to run the government for next five-year term,” she added.
Bikalpadhara President Prof Dr AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury accused the government of creating the present political impasse centering the election time government.
“The country will fall into a serious crisis if the government doesn’t accept the demand fro restoration of caretaker government what he said turned into a public demand.
The former President warned the government that the election must be held under the caretaker administration. “It is the last word of the people,” he added.
Bikalpadhara secretary general Maj (Retd) Abdul Mannan also addressed the iftar and doa mahfil which was held a Basundhara Convetion Centre in the city in honour of political leaders and dignitaries.
