DHAKA: Renowned Bangladeshi singer Runa Laila was made SAARC Goodwill Ambassador for HIV/AIDS.Foreign ministry sources said she would discharge her duty as special envoy for HIV/AIDS.
The new SAARC ambassador will pay a call to foreign minister Dipu Moni at about 2:30am on Tuesday, the ministry sources added.
According to SAARC websites, on 2 January 2013, SAARC has decided to confer the honorary title of SAARC Goodwill Ambassadors to Ms. Runa Laila for the promotion and advocacy of awareness in combating HIV/AIDS in the SAARC Member States.
Apart from Runa Laila, SAARC has decided to confer the honorary title of SAARC Goodwill Ambassadors to Indian film actor Shri Ajay Devgan and Ms. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy of Pakistan.
