Russia-Myanmar MoU for coopin peaceful use of nuke energy

Russia and Myanmar have signed a MoU for cooperation in peaceful use of nuclear energy during the International Economic Forum held at St. Petersburg recently. This document lays the legal foundation for interaction between two countries in the area of nuclear energy. A similar MoU was also signed between Russia and Saudi Arabia during the forum.S. Kirienko, CEO of Russia’s State Corporation- ROSATOM and Prof. Aung Kyaw Myat, Minister for Science and Technology of Myanmar signed the MoU on behalf of their respective countries.
Memorandum covers areas of bilateral cooperation including fundamental and applied research, radioisotopes application, joint research, technology development in the sphere of nuclear medicine, radioimmunotheraphy, realization of the programme of IAEA’ technical contribution to nuclear medicine, nuclear safety features, physical and radioactivity protection, radiation risk assessment on the environment, training of specialists.
Both the countries agreed to form a working group which will be implementing the tasks outlined in the MoU. Preparation of the intergovernmental agreement for cooperation in peaceful use of nuclear energy has been determined as the nearest task by the sides. – Triune presss release
