Dhaka – Bangladesh Women’s cricket team lost the five-match ODI overseas series against South Africa (SA) losing the 3rd game by nine wickets at Diamond Oval, Kimberley on Wednesday.
Bangladesh conceded a nine-wicket defeat in the series for the second time as they lost the 2nd game with nine wickets, starting the campaign with a 106-run loss.
SA chased down a target of 72 for 1 in 14.2 overs spurred with player of the match Lizelle Lee’s unbeaten 44* off 51balls, including five boundaries and one six, in her opening position.
Trisha Chetty added 15* off 20 balls with two fours, while Andrie Steyn was out for 12 runs.
Nahida Akter got the only wicket for Bangladesh conceding 19 runs in 4.2 overs.
Sent in to bat first, Bangladesh ended the innings on a tiny 71 for all in 36.5 overs where Nigar Sultana (33* off 97b; 3×4) and Panna Ghosh (12 off 41b; 1×4) were the double digit scorers.
Pace bowler Ayabonga Khaka was the most successful wicket takers for the host side with three-for 16 in 6.5 overs while another pacer Marizanne Kapp got two-for 14 in seven overs.Both sides will play each other in the next game at the same venue on May 11.UNB
