Sacking of two BCL leaders show the level of corruption: BNP

Dhaka, Sept 15 – Opposition BNP is happy with taking action president and secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League, (BCL), the student wing of the ruling Awami League, said BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
“The dropping of Chhatra League president and secretary proved as to how much corruption is going on and where it reached. This is only case which was unveiled. The corruption is going on across the country,” he said while briefing reporters at BNP chairperson’s political office in Gulshan
The BNP leader said according of BCL constitution, Awami League chief is the leader of the organization and she is the guardian of the organization and she can take any measures as organizational leader and there is no difficulty in it.
His comments came a day after the Prime Minister and AL chief Sheikh Hasina dropped the BCL president and secretary from their posts over widespread controversy over their recent actions.
On imposing injunction on holding JCD council, Mirza Alamgir said politics cannot be controlled by law and he termed controlling politics by court unprecedented one.
“We have the objection of controlling politics by the court…The government is doing this. It is proved that the government does not believe in democracy,” he alleged.
The BNP secretary general also alleged that their party chairperson Khaleda Zia was sent to jail in a false case which he termed a farce.
He put emphasis on the need to release Khaleda, restore democracy, establish good governance and economic discrimination to build a moderate democratic state.
The BNP leader called upon all carry forward being imbued with the sprit of democracy and said they are determined to establish a democratic state.
BNP standing committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Dr Abdul Moin Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, among others, were present at the press briefing. – Staff Reporter
