Dhaka – Bangladeshi golfer Mohammad Samrat Sikder topped the list in the individual event of the Mujib Borsho Cup Amateur Golf Tournament 2020 scoring two under par 70 after the first round matches at the Kurmitola Golf Course here on Wednesday.
Another Bangladeshi golfer Mohammad Farhad was in the 2nd slot scoring equal par 72 while Mohammad Liton Mondal of Bangladesh was in the 3rd place making one over par 73.
In the team event, Bangladesh A team studded with Samrat Sikder and Mohammad Farhad clinched the top slot scoring two under-par 142 while Bangladesh C team comprising Liton Mondal and Abu Bakar Siddique are in the 2nd place scoring four over par 148.
Earlier on Tuesday, State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Hasan Russell MP inaugurated the meet as the chief guest.
BGF President Major General M. Enayet Ullah, Senior Vice-President Brigadier General M Tajul lslam Thakur, Secretary General Fariduddin Khan Rumy, Vice President of the Tournament organizing committee Brigadier General (Retd) Abdiur Reza Khan and BGF Joint Secretary Lt Col (Retd) M Abdul Bari were also present on the occasion.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal MP will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony on January 11 and later he will distribute the prizes.
Some 200 golfers from Bhutan, China, Iran, Malaysia, Nepal, Sri Lanka and hosts Bangladesh are taking part in the competition, organised by Bangladesh Golf Federation (BGF).UNB
