Sangeet Bhaban presents Rainy Season

Sangeet Bhaban, is a noted cultural organisation that is running in its 36th year this year. A regular respondent to calls for cultural programmes, the institution organised an event of music yesterday glorifying the coming Rainy Season. The event started with a group rendition of the Tagore song ‘Bishwabinarabe Bishwajan Mohichhe”. The event featured in total ten solo musical performances while ending with a group rendition.
After the opening song Sima Sarkar presented the song ‘Heriye Shamal Ghana Neel Gagan-E’. Then Suparna Dey, Tahmina Tanu and Saleh Mohammadan, Nibedita Haldar presented duet songs. Rifat Jamal, Sarbabani Chakraborty, Golam Mostafa, Emdad Hossain, Swapan Kumar Das presented solo songs. Then again Kanak Khan, Khandakar Jafar Sadek brought back duet song. Moumita Jannat performed recitations time and again in the middle highlighting rains. Towards the end of the programme Sumon Chowdhury and Mahmud Selim presented solo music.
Pijush Barua, president of Sangeet Bhaban was felicitated in the beginning of the programme marking his birthday. He sang National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam’s song ‘Shaon Raat-E Jodi Sharan-E Ashe Mone’ at the ending session. It might be noted here that Kalim Sharafi, a noted Tagore practitioner founded Sangeet Bhaban in 1983.
