Sarker no Manch spokesman – Bloggers: Who are they – Sarker

A faction of the Bangladesh Online Blogger and Activist Network (BOAN) has ‘removed’ Imran H Sarker, from the post of Ganajagaran Mancha spokesperson.
Animesh Rahman, Charbak, Bangal and Kaniz Aklima Sultana were present when the decision was announced at a press briefing at Dhaka Reporters Unity on Saturday.
The move comes just days after a faction of the Ganajagaran Mancha, the movement for highest penalty for war criminals, made a similar announcement of ‘relieving’ Sarker of his role in the mass platform. However, a post on BOAN’s Facebook page said it did not call the press briefing when Sarker was relieved as Mancha spokesperson.
The move might be part of a conspiracy to malign BOAN, said the post.
Sarker, a doctor in profession, was made the spokesperson of the mass movement after its inception on April 5.
He accused Bangladesh Chhatra League and Awami Juba League for a scuffle at Shahbagh, the heart of the movement, forcing the two fronts of the ruling Awami League to make counter allegations.
Sarker has been blaming the government of hatching conspiracies against the mass movement.
Ganajagaran Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarker has questioned the authority of a group of bloggers who removed him, by holding a press briefing, from his post.
“Who are they to disown me? I’m the founder of BOAN,” he told bdnews24.com on Saturday evening within an hour of a group of bloggers under the banner of Bangladesh Online Blogger and Activist Network (BOAN) announced the removal of Sarker from the BOAN at a press briefing at Dhaka Reporters Unity.
Imran was reacting before journalists at the Shangskriti Bikash Kendra (Centre for Cultural Development) in the city’s Paribagh.
He said that he was distributing forms and doing registration there to induct new members into BOAN.
Earlier, a section of the BOAN members at a press briefing announced the removal of Sarker from the post of Mancha spokesperson claiming that he was working ‘for the sake of different vested interest groups’.
Reacting to the move, Imran said, “They joined the BOAN through my support.”
