Saudi visit halted sensing move against Fakhrul’s bail: Bnp

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will perform the holy Umrah at her convenient time following the Eid-ul-Fitr.
“The chairperson was thinking not to visit Saudi Arabia this year for Umrah as is feeling unwell. But it is totally depending on her and there is no political matter,” said BNP spokesperson Dr Asaduzzaman Ripon.
Speaking a press conference at party the headquarters, he rejected the newspaper reports that Khaleda postponed her visit to Saudi Arabia as Tarique Rahman did not get visa.
He alleged that some newspapers prepared news on Khaleda’s visit to Saudi Arabia based on assumption that is not correct.
The BNP leader informed that the Saudi King, like in other years, invited the former premier and her family members with due respect since she performs Umrah.
The invitation of the Saudi King remained valid. She will visit to Saudi Arabia at any time with her family members.
Khakeda Zia was due to visit to Saudi Arabia on Wednesday night on an Emirate Airlines flight but the schedule was suspended suddenly creating different speculation in political arena.
Party insiders said Khaleda postponed her visit sensing that there were ill activities inside the government to harass party acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in the way of his obtaining bail.
Replying to a question on the Prime Minister’s remark that Ziaur Rahman had created obstacle to return her in Bangladesh, he termed the comments untrue and said that Zia had given her the opportunity to do politics in the country.
