School Cricket: Bogura Police Lines clinch title

Sylhet – An all-rounder performance by captain Rakibul Islam Sojib enabled Bogura Police Lines School & College to clinch the Prime Bank National School Cricket crown beating Sunamganj Govt Jubilee High School by six wickets in the final at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Sunday.Sent in to bat first, Sunamganj Jubilee High were bundled out for 90 runs in 32.4 overs with SI Tamim scoring 15 and Juyeb Mamun 13 runs.

Rakibul Islam Sojib and Arafat Islam grabbed three wickets each conceding 18 and 20 runs respectively.Chasing a tiny target, Bogura Police Lines School easily reached their ultimate goal scoring match-winner 91 runs for the loss of four wickets in 18.2 overs with captain Rakibul Islam Sojib contributing 18 runs, Redwan Hossain 13, Mahfuz 12 and Khaled Mahmud not out 12 runs.

SI Tamim bagged two wickets for 24 runs.

Later, Rakibul Islam Sojib was adjudged man of the match. Rezaul Islam of Manikganj Model High was adjudged man of the series and the best batsman of the tournament scoring 427 runs with one century and two half centuries in addition to grabbing 14 wickets.

Morshed Alam of Chattogram Sunshine Grammar School was adjudged the best bowler taking 28 wickets.Divisional Commissioner of Sylhet Dr Nazmanra Khanum was the chief guest in the final and later she distributed the prizes.

BCB Director Hanif Bhuiyan and Additional Managing Director of the meet’s sponsor Prime Bank Limited Habibur Rahman were also present.UNB
