Dhaka – A schoolgirl was raped allegedly by a young man at Belta village in Sharsha upazila of Jessore district on Monday, about 300 kilometres southwest of here.Police said, quoting the victim, Qamrul Islam, son of Ekser Ali of the village, picked up the girl, a class V student of Belta Government Primary School, from a field near her house when she went there to bring goats back home in the afternoon.
Qamrul took the girl to the room of an irrigation pump in the field and raped her.
Hearing the victim’s screams, locals rushed to the spot and rescued her but the perpetrator managed to flee the scene.
The victim was rushed to Jessore Medical College Hospital. Officer-in-charge of Sharsha Police Station Maniruzzaman confirmed the incident. A case was filed in this connection. – News Desk
