Students of different secondary level schools of the city at a post-rally oath-taking ceremony here have expressed commitment to work with honesty and patriotism in preventing corruption from society.
They also vowed to spread values of honesty in building a corruption free future society to further accelerate national uplift and make the independence meaningful for every citizen.
The district Corruption Prevention Committee (CPC) arranged the ceremony followed by discussion and cultural competitions on Tuesday afternoon on Public Library ground in observance of the Corruption Prevention Week- 2017.
Earlier, an anti-corruption rally, participated by 500 students and members of ‘Integrity Units’ from 10 educational institutions, officials, teachers, members of district CPC, civil society members and elite, was brought out in the city streets.
The district CPC with assistance of the District Combined Office of Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) and Justice Reform and Corruption Prevention Project of RDRS Bangladesh has been observing the week from March 26.
With president of the district CPC Vice-principal (Retd) Rakibul Hasan in the chair, deputy director of the District Combined Office of ACC Mozahar Ali Sarder addressed the discussion as the chief guest.
Vice-president of district CPC Dr Nasima Akhter, its members Khademul Islam Basunia, Banamali Paul, Advocate Zakia Sultana Choitee, and a number of students also spoke.
General secretary of district CPC Akbar Hossain conducted the oath-taking ceremony and moderated the discussion and cultural competitions.
The speakers put importance on inspiring the students through incorporating separate chapter and curriculum on preventing corruption and arranging debates and other extra-curricular activities for them to build their anti-corruption mindset.
Dr Nasima Akhter stressed educating the students on values of honesty and nurturing those in their personal lives in building a corruption free society.
Rakibul Hasan called for launching an effective social movement to prevent misuse of power and public money by few people to accelerate uplifts in building a middle income nation by 2021 and developed and dignified country by 2041, reports BSS, Rangpur .
