Scrutiny body formed to issue NOC on land use

The government today formed a four-member scrutiny committee for issuing no objection certificate (NOC) on land use.Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha(RAJUK) would provide secretarial assistance to the committee headed by LGRD secretary Abdul Maleq.Three other members of the committee would be to the rank and status of additional secretaries of the ministries of land, forests and housing and public works.

The main objective of the committee is to scrutinize all documents before issuing no objection certificate on land use.The scrutiny committee was formed at a meeting held at LGRD ministry conference room here during the ninth meeting of cabinet committee for reviewing Detail Area Plan (DAP).Besides, a decision was taken to formulate a coordinated plan for solving the capital’s water logging problem. The plan includes freeing the canals from illegal occupants, river-dredging and drainage construction.LGRD minister Khondokar Mosharaf Hossain, who chaired the meeting, laid importance on inter-linking of the canals and rivers in and around the capital.Two research organizations– Centre for Environment and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS) and Institute of Water Modeling (IWM)– placed two research papers in this respect before the meeting.Housing and public Works Minister Engineer Mosharaf Hossain, Water Resources Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud, Shipping Minister M Shajahan Khan, Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif and concerned officials of the respective ministries were present.
