Dhaka,Mar 5-The attacker on the popular author, Academic, Professor Muhammed Zafar Iqbal arrested the day when the incident happened but till now the law enforcement agencies could not tell how many of the attackers were involved with the heinous crime.However, the students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology University (SUST claimed that there were two attackers. Foyzur and another person who had participated in the attack directly, another escaped immediately after the attack.Golam Kibria, Police Commissioner, Sylhet Metropolitan police said that Saturday’s attacks were occurred by the extremist groups. We are investigating to know the real motive whether the attacker was alone or a group work.Shafiqur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Jalalabad Police Station told the independent that Foyzur was kept at MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital under police custody.Earlier RAB said that Foyzur subscribes to the ideology of militancy. Analyzing the nature of the attack and the interrogation from Foyzyr, they initially think that this could be an act of militancy.The attacker named Foyzur Hasan alias Shafiqur (24) was inspired by Ahle Hadis or Salafi ideology.Meanwhile, Police detained Foyzur Parents at Sunday night. They fled their house on Saturday.Shafiqur Rahman told the independent that Foyzur’s father name is Atiqur Rahman and mother Minara Begum surrendered at Jalalabad Police Station. Sylhet Metropolitan Police has withdrawn two of the four policemen responsible for the security of Mohammad Zafar Iqbal. In social media, before the attack, it was seen that the security forces of Zafar Iqbal were busy with mobile phones. However, the names of these two policemen are not known. Police said they investigated whether they had neglected the responsibility during the attack.SUST food Court official Rahi was standing beside the right side of Foyzur and those who were standing on the left side, all were students of electronic and electrical engineering department of SUST.Meanwhile, Javed Patawary, Inspector General of Police (IGP) said about the attacker on Professor Jafar Iqbal that now it is understood that he (the attacker) carried out the attack with the Self Radicalized. There was not much chance to interrogate the attacker. We are investigating; we will uncover the origin of this incident”. He said that at the program held at Jagannath University.Teachers, students and staff of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) continued their demonstrations on the campus on Monday condemning the attack on noted writer and educationist Dr Zafar Iqbal. Teachers of the university observed work abstention for two hours starting from 11:00am protesting the attack.Speaking at the programme, Professor Farid Uddin, vice canceller said none will be allowed to make the campus a den of militancy.
