Shibir man injured in Satkhira police firing

A local activist of Islami Chhatra Shibir sustained bullet wounds in a police firing during a clash at Sakhipur village in Debhata upazila on Thursday morning.
The injured was identified as Milon Babu Sohag, 22, son of Shahadat Gazi, a resident of the village.Kazi Sagir Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Debhata Police Station, said on secret information that a group of Shibir men was holding a clandestine meeting at a school playground at the village, a police team conducted a drive there at about 6:00 am.Sensing the presence of police, the Shibir activists started hurling crude bombs at them, leaving two policemen injured.Police also, in retaliation, fired three rounds of bullet to disperse the Shibir men, leaving Sohag bullet-hit.However, the associates of Sohag managed to flee the scene.Injured Sohag was admitted to Satkhira Sadar Hospital under police custody.Sohag is an accused in the local Awami League leader Abu Raihan killing case, the OC added. -UNB, Satkhira
