Siddikur continues dismal campaign in Fiji Int’l

Dhaka – Bangladesh’s trailblazing golfer Siddikur Rahman showed dismal form with four-over opening on a European Tour in the AUD$1,250,000 Fiji International at Natadola Bay Championship Golf Course on Thursday. On his first appearance in the flagship event at the same venue on the pacific paradise in August 2017, the two-time Asian Tour winner Siddikur failed to make cut with place of joint 88th as aggregated five-over-par 149, making a frustrating five-over-par 77 opening, including a double-bogey in the par-5 first hole.

After a year later, on the holiday island in 2018, Siddikur played four-over-par 76 opening, also had a dismal double-bogey, and shared the 78th spot with 13 other golfers — meaning his success cut is in doubt on second stint.

Four Australian players – Jarryd Felton, Nicholas Cullen, Andrew Dodt and Ben Campbell shared the leadership with five-under-67 for a two-shot lead in the event.

Siddikur was flawless up to the 5th hole before the double bogey in the 6th and continued downing with trading bogies in the 7th and par-5 number 9th.

He recovered the half-damage of first 9, trading birdies in the 14th and par-5 hole 17th, but was unfortunate with bogies in the 16th and 18th holes.UNB
